Question
When asking how to get somewhere from somewhere else should you use из or от?
Answer
Hello John!
The prepositions из (с) are used when you are speaking about going from a place to a place.

If the noun is used with the preposition в in the Accusative and the Prepositional case, it is going to be used with the preposition из in the Genitive case.
Я еду из магазина домой. I am going home from a shop.
The preposition от is used when you are leaving a place where somebody is.
Я иду от доктора домой. I am going home from the doctor's.
Мы едем от Ивановых. We are going back from the Ivanovs.
