What is the difference between на русском языке, в русском языке, по русскому языку, по русски and по русский язык and when to use each one of them?
Answer
Hi!
"На русском языке" normally means that there is a resource (book, video, film) written or made in Russian: "Фильм на русском языке", "Книга на русском языке", etc.
"В русском языке" means "in the Russian language" in its linguistic meaning: "В русском языке только одно прошедшее время".
"По русскому языку" is used with the words "экзамен", "тест", "контрольная работа" and "учебник": "Экзамен по русскому языку", "учебник по русскому языку", etc.
"По-русски" is only used with the expressions "говорить-сказать что-либо по-русски", "писать-написать что-либо по-русски" and "читать-прочитать что-либо по-русски".
"По русский язык" does not exist.
