Fleeting vowel in words ending with -ец and -ок

It is good to know that masculine nouns that have -ок and -ец in the end lose the vowels о and е in all forms except Nom.sg. That is why those vowels are called fleeting.

The list of nouns with a fleeting vowel is quite extensive, so pay particular attention anytime you change a word ending with -ец and -ок. Among them are перец, огурец, отец, молодец, американец, дворец, палец, подарок, ребёнок, подросток, звонок, белок, каток, рынок, молоток, хлопок, снимок etc.
