How to Say Dates in Russian

Did you know that we don’t use any preposition to say that something happened on a particular day? We just use the Genitive case of the ordinal number in neutral gender. To say the date we use the ordinal number in neutral gender in the Nominative case.

For example,

Второго сентября мы поедем в отпуск. We will go on holidays on the 2nd of September.

Сегодня второе сентября. It is the 2nd of September today.
