Russian questions with откуда

Do you know that there is a special question word that means “from where” – откуда? To answer this question, Genitive case should be used, usually with the prepositions из or с (“from”).

For example,

1. – Откуда ты? Where are you from?

– Я из Америки. I am from the US.

2. – Откуда ты идёшь? Where are you going from?

– С работы. From work.
