Did you know that some Russian imperfective verbs don’t form gerunds? The verbs that end in -чь (лечь, мочь, etc.), the verbs with the suffix -ну (сохнуть, мокнуть, etc.), the verbs that don’t have vowels in their present tense stems (ждать, лить, пить, etc.), the verbs писать, резать, петь, пахать, etc.
