Course introduction

The online Russian language course includes information about Russian customs and traditions, geographical features of Russia, as well as materials exploring Russian national characteristics and the Russian mentality.

Contemporary Russian society is featured in this course. The classes can cover all of the above mentioned topics, or focus on one or two concrete aspects of the course, according to the wishes of students.

This course is intended for students from levels B2 - C1 and comprises 30 hours. The course may, however, be extended according to the wishes of students.

As part of the course, several different learning resources created especially for foreign students who are studying Russian are used. Video lessons focusing on Russian geography are also used. Students will analyze the suggested material both in spoken and written forms, and will compare aspects of Russian culture with those of their home country. During the lessons the teacher will also draw attention to the linguistic aspects (vocabulary and grammar) that a student may be grappling with.

If you want to learn Russian I highly recommend you Russian lessons with Yulia. She is a great teacher and she can help you to improve all key language skills. During her lessons you watch some videos, talk with Yulia about different topics, do some grammar exercises, read some texts and also write some. So you need all four key language skills: writing, reading, listening and speaking. She really caters for your needs in Russian language and so you also can enhance your problems within the language or grammar. She also considers your personal wishes and wants to meet your objectives. So you can for example choose topics you’re interested in or choose grammar topics you need to repeat. Yulia is also a very patient teacher. When you don’t know a word she helps you and she explains everything very understandable. The lessons are nearly just in Russian and so you have to start thinking in Russian. Since I started my Russian lessons with Yulia my Russian language skills really improved and I will definitely go on learning Russian with her.

I find Evgenia’s lessons interesting. We approach grammar rules that are new to us in conjunction with new lexical topics and using different materials and angles each time. This way, the lessons stay original and do not become monotonous. The homework helps one to remember the rules and vocabulary seen in the previous lesson, while helping to embark on the next lesson’s topic.

I have had the pleasure to be the student of Tatiana Martin for a year.

Though I have had russian lessons before, and I was hesitant to continue lessons over Skype. Nonetheless, I started learning Russian with Tatiana while still at a beginner level. Though Russian is a difficult language, after months of unbroken 2 lessons a week I started to be able to read short passages, which quickly improved to reading easy short stories. After about a year I was able to hold a very basic short conversation with good grammar and vocabulary, as well as understand some passages of Russian songs and understand russian news tweets.

Tatiana is a very patient teacher, she is organised, and takes the time to prepare lessons and follows up with homework. She is also very friendly and breaks the formality of the lessons to make them fun and enjoyable.

The Russificate school is very comfortable to deal with, and Yulia, its director, is very organised and punctual regarding replying to email enquiries and sorting out payments.
