It is a well-established fact that the best way to learn a foreign language is to visit a country where it is spoken. Estonia’s historical connection provides students with one of the best opportunities to learn Russian in the region. According to the latest population census results, Russian is the second most widely spoken language in Estonia (after Estonian): 29% speak Russian as their mother tongue and 38% as a foreign language which gives in 67% of the Russian speaking population in total.
The teachers in the course are all native speakers of Russian and they all use the most up-to-date teaching materials. Furthermore, the course offers a real opportunity for genuine communication in Russian – while at the same time offering European standards of safety and service. This programme differs from other summer schools located in Russia or western countries since it offers a unique bridge to the Russian language and culture. Please read more about Language Programme After a short written test, students will be divided into groups based on their initial proficiency in the Russian language. The number of groups depends on the number of participants, usually, there are 3-4 groups. Please note that participants in one group might have slightly different levels, more advanced students can ask for additional tasks.
We also offer a rich cultural program to all our participants. Many events and open lectures are available for all the participants for free, for example welcoming reception, international night and movie nights. The guided tours, museum visits and weekend trips are for an extra fee.
It is possible to stay at Tallinn University student hostel during the course. The hostel is close to Old town and a 5-minute walk from the university campus. The hostel has double and triple rooms, WiFi, shared kitchens, shared shower and WC, bed-linen, possibility to use a washing machine.

10:00 – 11:30 Language lessons
11:30 – 12:00 Break
12:00 – 13:30 Language lessons
Credit points: 5 ECTS. The number of classes equals 60 academic hours (15 days of classes).

The course fee is 600 euros
Accommodation fee is 210 euros for 3 weeks (one place in a double/triple room)
In addition to the general Russian language course, students are encouraged to participate in the Russian Language Immersion Weekend in Narva.
For participants of the Russian Language Course, we offer a unique possibility to combine studying Russian with visiting the most Russian-speaking city of the European Union – Narva, located at the Estonian-Russian border where 95% of the population speak Russian. The program is designed for those who study Russian and want to practice it in everyday situations to improve their language skills. All activities of the program are in Russian, additionally you can practice language with local people!

Meals, accommodation, materials, transportation Tallinn-Narva-Tallinn is included.
