How to wish a good night in Russian

The most traditional way to wish a good night in Russian is to say ‘Спокойной ночи’, which literally means ‘Have a calm night’. Another option is to say ‘Доброй ночи’. Be aware, unlike the greetings “Доброе утро!”, “Добрый день!”, and “Добрый вечер!”, “Доброй ночи” requires the use of the genitive case, since it’s a wish, not a statement of fact.

To add a bit of sweetness to your well-wishing, you can also say “Сладких снов” or “Хороших снов” to wish someone sweet dreams.
