Question
What does this Russian saying mean?
Я настолько в себе уверена, что сама кричу кукушкам сколько им жить осталось!
I'm not asking for a literal translation of it: I want to know what it actually means. (A friend of mine said it to me in a message while I was having a quarrel with her),
Answer
Hello Michael,
There is a Russian superstition that says that cuckoos can tell how many more years you will live.
So, the saying Я настолько в себе уверена, что сама кричу кукушкам, сколько им жить осталось means "I am so self-assured that I can say to cuckoos how many more years they will live".
It just means that this person is extremely self-assured.
